We have some winter days that can freeze the lava off a volcano and that poses a problem for our chickens in that they do like a drink once in a while…I placed this little heater in a 5 gallon tub filled with water and and placed it just outside my garage door and plugged it in…it worked so well my geese were soaking their feet in the water to get warm. Except for that obstacle, it worked well and my chickens stayed well hydrated as long as we had electricity.

This BIRD BATH HEATER WORKS EXTREMELY WELL TO KEEP WATER AVAILABLE ALL WINTER LONG. JUST PLOP IN BIRD BATH, I tied my electric wire to base of bird bath and covered plug
with tape + plastic. So heartwarming to see birds drink and take a bath all winter long? Had mine for at least 8 years before I had to purchase another one. I keep in the shed all summer.
Very good and useful item.
